Sons Of Appollo ~ MMXX

SoA_MMXX_cover_1000

Another great one from Sons Of Appollo. Starting off with a song over 7 minutes long, that starts off very slow & melodic, and then blisters into what you would expect from Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Derek Sherinian, & Jeff Scott Soto. When you put all of these guys together in one band, how can they fail? As you start off with “Goodbye Divinity”, which again, starts off with a beautiful keyboard part, and then blisters into what you might expect from Mike Portnoy’s first band, Dream Theater. This  song cooks. It is well done, pun intended. Portnoy’s drums are very pronounced on this album, as is Billy Sheehan’s bass lines. Derek Sherinian’s Keyboards do exactly what they’re supposed to, “Bumblefoot’s” guitar parts are very thought out as well. What else can I say? Oh, yes…Soto’s vocals fit in perfectly right where they are. The album ends with a beautiful epic song that spans over 16 minutes long. A beautiful beginning and then ending perfectly. What more can you ask? I give this 5 out of 5 Music Guru stars.
