3 Pairs Of Boots ~Gone South

3 pairs of boots

This lovely country rock band has a beautiful sound to them. The vocals are great & the music just comes from the soul. In 1972, I found out about the band “Pure Prairie League” with their album “Bustin’ Out”. This album isn’t quite there, but, it could be PPL’s earlier album. Pure Prairie League was in my top 10 bands in the 1970’s. 3 Pairs Of Boots may be in the running for the 2020’s. The songwriting is solid, the music is tight. At first listen, this album gets 4 out of 5 Music Guru stars. With repeated listening, it may move up to 5. Laura Arias has a standout voice, on most of the tracks. On 2 songs she has that country twang to it, that I don’t like, but, the rest of the album is great. Andrew Stern on guitar, Jay Lane on drums & DeWayne Pate on bass really put a great backing to Laura’s singing.
