MJ 12

MJ12 Cover med res

MJ 12 is a prog fusion band which to me seems more like jazz. Featuring the bass playing of Percy Jones from Brand X, which you can definately hear in this band. MJ 12 is named after Majestic 12, which was supposedly a group of scientists in the late 40’s to investigate UFO’s. MJ 12 is an improv jazz group which blends in fusion as well as prog, but, again to me, this is jazz. Along with Percy Jones, from Brand X, you also have Stephen Moses on drums and trombone. Guitarist Dave Phelps brings in some nice Jeff Beck grooves to some of these songs, and, Saxophonist Chris Bacas, who has play with the Glen Miller Ortchestra & the Tommy Dorsey Band round out this foursome. There are 9 songs on this album and some are reall good, some, just so-so. For me, I’d give this 3 out of 5 Music Guru Stars.
