Back To Steel

If you’re a Jethro Tull fan, you will probably love this. This album shows the guitar wizardry of Martin Barre, just as if he were still playing with Jethro Tull, but, wait…this is a solo album, so, things are a little different. #1, Ian Anderson isn’t on the album at all, although 2 of the tracks were written by him. Slow Marching Band & Skating Away, were Jethro Tull songs after all, but, after listening to this album, I kind of wonder, how much input did Martin Barre have in the Tull music. I say alot, if you listen to this album. The only drawback to the album, is the vocalist sounds more like David Coverdale than Ian Anderson. This is not a bad thing, but, when Barre writes, it seems like he was writing the music for Ian Anderson to sing it. All in all, a great album. Listen to the great guitar work & you’ll be in heaven. 4.5 out of 5 Music Guru Stars, only because I thought that the vocals (which really were fine) needed to be a little more mellow than powerful. Track 7 had a female singer named Elani Andrea, who seemed to sing the track titled “You And I” and fit right into that mellow that I was talking about.
