What can I tell you about Flying colors? Well, they are a super-group of mostly progressive musicians. You have Dave Larue on Bass (Dixie Dregs, Steve Morse Band, Joe Satriani, etc.) Casey McPherson on lead vocals & rhythm guitar (Alpha Rev, Endochine), Neal Morse on keyboards (Spock’s Beard, Transatlantic, Neal Morse Band, etc.), Mike Portnoy on drums (Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, Transatlantic, OSI, Avenged Sevenfold, The Winery Dogs, etc.) & Steve Morse on Lead & Rhythm Guitar (Dixie Dregs, Steve Morse Band, Deep Purple, Angelfire, etc.) These five musicians put together 2 great albums, and then did a small tour to promote their 2nd album titled “Second Nature”. I’ve never seen Casey or Dave play live before, but together with Mike, they were the definitive rhythm section. Neal & Mike were great, but, seemed more subdued than normal, but, it worked it let Steve & Casey really strut their stuff. This concert was enjoyed by everyone in the audience. The Keswick Theater is a great place to see a show…any show. Probably my favorite place to see a show in the Philadelphia area. Neal, Mike, Steve, Dave, Casey, please keep up the great work. I want to hear more great music from Flying Colors. Oh…I almost forgot, the opening band was Bend Sinister. I’ve never heard of them before, but, after leaving the Keswick Theater that night, I am now in possession of 2 of their albums. Listen to both of these bands! They ROCK!!
